ILEGRAMMS AT 90: Alumni reward students, teachers with cash prizes and plaques...(PHOTOS)






Ilesa Grammar School  Old Students Association’s (ILEGSOSA) 90th Anniversary Planning Committee has offered cash prizes to the overall best students and some teachers of the school to encourage excellence in the school and giving back to the young ones.





Thursday, 8th February, 2024 featured Students and Teachers Day at the weeklong 90th anniversary celebration activities in the school premises.






The following students got N10,000 cash prizes each:

SSS 1

Best in Math:: Osewa Louis

Best in English:: Oyeposi Mercy.


SSS 2

Best in Math::: Adesokan Samuel

Best in English:: Daramola Abisola


SSS 3

Best in Math:: Omotoso Joshua.


Best in English:: Omoniyi Damilare


JSS 1


Best in Math:: Olayinka Daniel


Best in English:: Olanibi Precious


JSS 2


Best in Math::: Asaolu Aduragbemi 


Best in English:: Oginni Okiki


JSS 3


Best in Math::: Adeleke Precious


Best in English:: Olajide Moyinoluwa.






Excellence does not stop with only students, best teachers were also recognized and awarded cash gifts ranging from N20,000 to N30,000.

The following overall best students got N20,000 and Certificate from Society for Good Health, a Non-Governmental Organisation. In JSS 1 Moyinoluwa Oyinkansola, Asaolu Aduragbemi, JSS 2, Sunday Oluwasina, JSS 3, Osewa Louis, SSS 1, Ojewole Darasimi, SSS 2, Omotoso Joshua, SSS 3.


Society for Good Health is an NGO sponsored by the son of Engr. Joseph Folorunso Labeodan an alumnus of Ilegrams'.


The beneficiaries of Engr. Joseph Folorunso Labeodan prizes, comprising of N50,000 cash prize and a plaque each were Omotoso Joshua, Senior Prefect (Boy) and Ayodele Chisom, Senior Prefect (Girl).







Engr. Labeodan, an octogenarian, an alumnus now resident in America was the Senior Boy of the school in 1955.

Mr Shola Oshunkeye of the 1974 set of ILEGSOSA, winner of CNN African Journalist of the Year 2006, while presenting the prizes to the beneficiaries students, advised them to always focus on their studies, reminding them that they are the future and key to remodelling the country.





Osunkeye later launched the editorial board of the school's Press Club, to commence publishing of "The Axe".


On his part, Dr. Wale Bolorunduro, Chairman, Ilegramms 90th Anniversary Planning Committee, said the gesture was to encourage and honour the best teachers and students of the school so that other students and teachers can also be inspired.


“Try your best to excel and imbibe the spirit of Omoluwabi in all you do because that is what will take you through life." Bolorunduro said 





Also, 94-year old Engr. Benjamin Omotunde Adeyemi of the 1952 set was at the occasion and he was shared is experience as a student of the school.







On sideline were donations of multi-function photocopier for the school's office and jerseys for school team and also Community Outreach Activities that included free medicals and charity donation to the School of Handicap Children.
