Following his appointment and resumption to office in Abuja as the Executive Director, Project Implementation of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) former Commissioner for Works in Osun State, Engr. Remi Omowaiye was on Sunday 3rd March, 2023 on the streets of Ilesa, his hometown in Osun state.
In the era of publicising the act of sharing palliatives to citizens facing tough times as a result of the economic hardship being faced by majority of Nigerians caused by the removal of fuel subsidy, that led to sharp and multiple increases in fuel pump prices and worsening the socio-economic situation in the country, Omowaiye doled out food items that included rice, spaghetti, noodles and cash as palliatives to his constituents.
The exercise by the Executive Director, devoid of any form of publicity, was part of measures to mitigate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal and cushion the hardship being faced by the underprivileged in his hometown.
Many constituents at Ifosan, Ijamo, Ijoka, Itakogun, Isinkin, Isokun, Ikoti, women, men, old and young of Ilesa East and West local government areas, even kids ran out of their homes, some were almost unclad when they heard the news that Omowaiye's vans conveying the palliatives were passing their streets.
Omowaiye later joined APC leaders and party faithfuls at the Ilesa West local government Isokun, Ilesa party Secretariat where he brought good tidings from Honorable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, HE Adegboyega Oyetola and called on the residents to exercise patience with the administration of President Bola Tinubu, noting that the administration was committed to implementing measures to stabilize prices, encourage economic growth, and promote the prosperity and well-being of citizens.
