PHOTO DIARY: Oyetola in Ilesa on Easter Monday

In some places the day after Easter is simply called Easter Monday. In other places, it’s Bright Monday, Renewal Monday to mention but a few.

In London, there is a parade in Hyde Park. In the U.S., the most notable celebration happens at the White House where the president sponsors the annual Easter Egg Roll. In Nigeria, many people celebrate it as a continuation of Easter festivities. It's a public holiday, giving families time to relax and enjoy.

Seemingly in Osun government administrative scene this 2024 Easter Monday, apart from being a public holiday was largely ignored but the most notable celebration happens at Ilesa where the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola quietly and surprisingly drove to town to celebrate with prominent All Progressives Congress leaders and party faithfuls in Ilesa and the respected Ijesa Elders Forum leader, Chief Akinwande Akinola the Sawe of Ilesa.

The first point of call for the ex-Governor was the Fadahunsi Avenue residence of Chief Kunle Odeyemi, the APC leader in Ijesaland.  He followed it up with a call on Chief Akin Akinola's, where the host, the Sawe of Ilesa, on behalf of the people of Ijesaland thanked Oyetola for establishing a worthy university, University of Ilesa, for the people of the town two years ago.

The ex-Governor equally visited the former speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Timothy Owoeye, to celebrate this year's Easter celebration with him and his numerous supporters. 

The Minister finally proceeded to Foundation Event Centre at Iddo-Ijesa, venue of the 63rd birthday celebration of Hon. Lawrence Babatunde Ayeni, former member representing Ijesa South Federal Constituency at the 9th National Assembly.
