All arrangements are now set for the mega defection activities of the governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last election in Osun State, Prince Dotun Babayemi.
According to the Osun State chairman of the APC, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, in a statement issued by the party's Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi, today, the defection event has been slated for Friday, May 17th, 2024 at 10 am at the State Secretariat of the party, along Osogbo-Gbongan road, Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo.
Lawal enjoined all the members and supporters of the APC in the state to make it a point of duty to grace the occasion in their usual orderly manner.
He assured the members, supporters of the APC and those who are defecting into the party that everything humanly possible has been put in place in order to make the occasion a superlative success.
The state APC chairman tasked all the stakeholders of the party to put in their possible best both individually and collectively in order to achieve the desired goal for the further fortification of the party.
He equally assured Prince Babayemi and his supporters who are defecting into the APC that there would be equal opportunity for them and the old members of the party.
Lawal congratulated those who are defecting into the party for their wise choice, telling them that it's God Almighty that has been their political pathfinder as the APC is a party of the people.
In the words of the APC chairman: "It is not an overstatement to state that the Osun State is a traditional APC enclave and any other party that may be occupying a political space in the state is a mere tenant which will soon be shown the way out of the state.
"The more the merrier. Let us work assiduously towards the next series of elections in the state and take back our state.
"We are lucky to have as the leader of the APC in the state, former Governor Gboyega Oyetola now Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, who is a known workaholic, a deep thinker and consumate politician who has been making indelible mark in the new ministry of Marine and Blue Economy", Lawal stated.
