IJESA HEALTH INSURANCE SCHEME AWARENESS FOR THE ELDERLY ARRIVES ORIADE/OBOKUN LG....OWALOKO CALLS ON IJESA NORTH TRADITIONAL RULERS TO TARGET VULNERABLE POPULATION (PHOTOS)







Not less than 26 Traditional Rulers across different communities in Oriade/Obokun Local Government Areas on Wednesday participated at an advocacy and sensitization meeting held at the palace of Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa as the Ijesa Community Development Assembly (ICDA) forged a strategic partnership with the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to provide improved health insurance coverage to more than 3000 elderly Ijesa men and women.


The interface meeting focused on accelerating and developing strategies and roadmaps for proper implementation of the Ijesa Elderly people health insurance plan in Oriade and Obokun local government areas of Ijesaland.





Opening the sensitization session, the Acting State Coordinator of National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Mr. Abiodun Oyawoye highlighted the goal of the NHIA which is to ensure that Nigerians have access to good healthcare services at incredibly subsidized rates. 


"NHIA insurance package covers consultations, tests, medical consumables and minor surgeries. It's GIFSHIP program allows private individuals, families and groups to enjoy the same insurance benefits." Mr Oyawoye said 





Tracing the birth of the elderly health insurance initiative to the stakeholders meeting recently organized by the Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, the President of Ijesa North Council of Traditional Rulers, Oba Akeem Olusayo, Ogungbangbe,Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa, emphasized on the requirements for the qualification for registration which is exclusively for selected above 60 years age bracket vulnerable Ijesa men and women across all the 12 local government areas of Ijesaland.

Owaloko highlighted the interventions of ICDA to alleviate the burden of out-of-pocket health expenses. he pointed out the necessity for a clear and purposeful strategy to facilitate the widespread enrollment of Ijesaland elderly in health insurance schemes which is an initiative of well-to-do Ijesa patriots.

He also hammered on the roles and responsibilities of the traditional rulers and their contributions towards achieving the goal of selecting beneficiaries by effectively targeting the vulnerable population in their domains.

In his remarks, the Elegboro of Ijebu Jesa, Oba Engr. Moses Oluwafemi Agunsoye also lauded the Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Yinka Fasuyi for the initiative that has led Ijesa patriots to contribute over 30 million Naira within a very short notice.

ICDA BREAKS ANOTHER RECORD IN IJESALAND DEVELOPMENT: TO SPONSOR 3,000 IJESA ELDERS ON ANNUAL HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE


Notably, the NHIA representatives led by the Acting State Coordinator, Mr. Abiodun Oyawoye accompanied by Mr. Ojo, the Head of Osun NHIA account department, Mrs. Bose Fatunola and Dr. Adeyemo Adekunle were at Iloko-Ijesa to involve stakeholders in a discussion to foster understanding, increase awareness and kickstart the enrollment exercise.






Mr. Abiodun Oyawoye noted that the beneficiaries of this partnership will enjoy improved medical treatment through accredited NHIA medical centres across Ijesaland as Dr. Adeyemo highlighted some of the benefits of the program that include free consultations, surgical treatments for eligible enrolees, 10% copayment on total cost of drugs, Diabetes and prostate treatment ..to name a few, he also mentioned that the premium will be paid by ICDA for 1year and that the forms should be given only to the most vulnerables in the over 60 years age bracket.




The registration forms were distributed to the Ijesa North traditional rulers signifying the commencement of Ijesa Health Insurance Scheme piloted by Ijesa Community Development Assembly (ICDA) throughout the length and breadth of Ijesaland.


A similar program was held at the Okemese courtyard of Owa Obokun Adimula Palace for traditional chiefs and community heads of Ilesa East and West local government areas on Tuesday. The sensitization team is supposed to move to Atakumosa East and West local government soonest.
