The Aragbiji of Iragbiji, HRM. Oba Abdul-Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi (JP) FCIPM, FNIM, MNIPR Odundun IV Asoludero, played host to creme de la creme of the society at the I7th Gbagede-Oba festival which was filled with grand colour and a robust display of the rich Yoruba culture. The festival which usually holds every 3rd day after Eid ul Kabir (Ileya Salah) .
This year's celebration, was held on 18th June, 2024 at the Oba Olabomi pavilion in his palace.
Gbagede-Oba, a popular Yoruba festival which takes place annually in Iragbiji, a city in Osun State, saw the rich cultural heritage of Iragbiji as people in the community and its environment trooped out in stylish attire and resplendent colours to celebrate this year’s festival.
HRM. Oba Olabomi while delivering his speech, appreciated everyone who was at the festival most especially His Excellency, Alh. Adegboyega Oyetola, the Honourable Minister for Marine and Blue Economy who contributed to the development of Iragbijiland, Osun State and Nigeria at large, implored him to continue do what he knows best to do and prayed for Almighty God to reward him.
The monarch, emphasized greatly on the need for peace and unity in the community, which will set a good pace for development and modernization of Iragbiji Land.
Lastly, the Monarch prayed for the peace and prosperity of the community, the State of Osun and Nigeria at large. Food and drinks were all available for everyone present as well as good music as the celebration of the 17th Gbagede Oba festival was a memorable one which would not be forgotten in a hurry.
The Students' Union Government of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAB) led by the SUG president, Comrade Nwanchukwu, where Hrm. Oba Olabomi was just recently appointed as the Pro-Chancellor/ Chairman Governing Councils , came to celebrate with kabiesi on his 17th Gbagede Oba. The monarch assured them for the new development that will kickoff soon in the University when he resume to office fully.
The occasion saw the presence of Honourable Minister's wife, Alhaja Kafayat Oyetola Olaitan and her entourage, HRM. Oba Quomorudeen Adeyemi Bello Adeyanju, Olororunwo of Ororuwoland, the Vice Chancellor of FUNAB, Asiwaju Aare Musulumi of Ifon, dignitaries and notable people, Aragbiji-in- council, Iragbiji indigenes and friends who came from far and near places, well wishers, Iragbiji club associations, residents of Iragbiji and others too numerous to mention.
