Again, Babcock University student allegedly commits su*cide for not making graduation list

Recurrent cases of suicide at Babcock University have brought significant concern.

In a recent incident, a student allegedly took his own life after not making the graduation list.

NewsAfriq gathered that the student had falsely informed his parents that the graduation ceremony was set for July 30th.

However, when his parents discovered the actual date was today Sunday July 28th and contacted him the day before, he discouraged them from attending.

Tragically, this morning, the student reportedly committed suicide by jumping from a three-story hostel building.

In 2017, an undergraduate of this same university reported to have committed suicide. Verishima, who hailed from Benue State and was studying Social Work at Babcock was reported to have committed suicide in their apartment after the New Year when his mother, who works with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, was away on night duty and his younger brother, Asor, was asleep.

This incident highlights the recurring and urgent need for mental health support and intervention within the university community.
