Lest We Forget; Bode Itaapa/ Sanya Omirin and the Police

It’s running to two weeks since after the Nigerian Police, Osun Command paraded a certain Bode Itaapa and described him as a notorious serial killer. 

The police went further in their press statement to say Bode Itaapa participated in many killings which took place in Ijesha land during the last election. 

Police also informed that the notorious criminal has confessed to them that a certain lawmaker, Mr Sanya Omirin who is a lawmaker representing Ijesha South Feseral Constituency was their sponsor. This is a weighty one that calls for the police urgent and thorough investigation activities. 

The police, speaking through the Command Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola (SP) was emphatic in telling the public that the lawmaker is a culprit in this matter according to information at their disposal. 

The Osun public quite appreciate and commend the police on this important achievement which is the arrest of one of the many dangerous thugs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Olabode Owoeye who is dreadfully known as "Bode Itaapa,". 

The police have done well in this, no doubt.

However, I would like to charge the police that there should not be any sacred cow anywhere irrespective of the status. We all are equal before the law. 

There is no doubt that It will serve the public good and the police well if all the criminals behind the dastardly killings of the supporters of the APC are prosecuted. Hence, this appeal to the police not to leave any stone unturned. 

The police owes it a duty to investigate the involvement of the lawmaker who was mentioned as the mastermind.

The confessional statement of Bode Itaapa to be responsible for the political killings in Ijesaland in general and Atakumosa-East in particular will continue to serve as our point of our persistent demand for justice for our slain brothers and sisters. 

I very much trust in the ability of the police to get to the root of the matter. Hon Sanya Omirin, if at this two weeks after has never deemed it fit to voluntarily walk to the police station on his own and uninvited should be invited to clear his name on the criminal matter.  As a lawmaker of the Federal Parliament he must not only be seen but also known to be above board on any issue especially criminality.
