The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the babaric and unlawful invasion of the houses of the major opposition party members in the state by the assault squad of the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Information has it that the Asubiaro, Osogbo residence of the immediate-past Field Commander of Osun Amotekun, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, was invaded around 2.18pm on Monday by the fully-armed Amotekun Corps in the company of the operatives of the state Security Joint Task Force (JTF) who ransacked the house and subjected the occupants of the house to terror under the guise of embarking on asset recovery mission.
Amitolu, in a statement which singled out the highly controversial newly-appointed Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, CSP Adekunle Omoyele (rtd) and Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye, of complicity in the attack, stated that the invasion by the political hoodlums of Governor Adeleke who are masquerading as members of Amotekun was a clear infringement of his fundamental human rights to privacy.
The human rights crusader, who said one of his vehicles was carted away, accused the Osun government of hounding him because during his tenure as the Amotekun chief, he was hard on the known hooligans and criminals who are today fraternizing with the leading actors in the administration.
He narrated, "I personally, as the Field Commander of Amotekun, led my team to rescue community from the hands of notorious criminals led by one Lekan Oyeyemi aka Ajagungbade, criminally called 'Emir' who is today standing trial over murder. Emir, today, is one of the aides of the current Governor."
Commenting on the development, the Osun State chairman of the APC, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, stated that the Gestapo manner of attack and invasion of the residence of Comrade Amitolu, a chieftain of the APC in Osogbo, was primitive and insensitive.
Lawal cautioned Governor Adeleke to act and show genuine leadership reflecting his exalted governorship position, asking why the Adeleke hoodlums should have embarked on the illegal searching of Amitolu's house without warrant.
In Lawal's words: "There was more to the invasion of Amitolu's house by the Adeleke janjaweed than meets the eye.
"Why did Governor Adeleke's hit men result to self help by needlessly hunting the members of the opposition in the name of asset recovery mission?
"Who are those thinking for the lacklustre administration, as this latest mission of acting contrary to the rules of law has exposed them that they have failed woefully in their diabolic and inhuman assignment?
"If the intelligence report at our disposal is anything to go by that there is a mapped out arrangement for the political hoodlums of Governor Adeleke to go after some of the members and chieftains of the APC who served diligently with former Governor Gboyega Oyetola now Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, we make bold to condemn it and state that it would be resisted through the instrumentality of the law of the land.
"We won't allow Governor Adeleke to turn Osun State into an animal kingdom where power, and not the rule of law, is might", the Osun State APC chairman warned the governor and his cohorts.
