As Things Fall Apart In Osun PDP, The Centre Has Refused To Hold With Peter Power's Resignation From Party

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has hailed the resignation of former Chief of Staff, Dr Peter Adebayo Babalola, from the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) barely 24 hours after a former governorship aspirant, Barrister Kayode Oduoye, who stepped down for Governor Ademola Adeleke, also dumped the party.

In a dramatic turn of events, Babalola, one of the pillars of the PDP in the state who hails from Ikire in Irewole Local Government Council Area of the state, submitted his letter of resignation to the state chairman of the party in Osogbo, the state capital, on Tuesday.

Surprisingly enough, the state PDP chairman, Mr Sunday Bisi, announced the suspension of Babalola who until his resignation yesterday was the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Osun State College of Education, Ila-Orangun, after Babalola had turned in his letter of resignation from the party.

The resignation of the former Chief of Staff under the administration of former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has left a big crack in the administration of the embattled Governor Adeleke which has been losing quality chieftains of the PDP to the opposition party in the state.

A source close to  Babalola disclosed that other disenchanted members and chieftains of the PDP in the state are also following the footstep of the Ikire-born political juggernaut soonest.

Babalola's resignation from the PDP is an indication that the ruling party is stone dead in the state and no miracle could revive it based on the untoward cataclysm that had bedeviled the party in recent time.

The former Chief of Staff deserves  a commendation for been favoured by God to discover  early enough that it is a fake illumination that the symbol of his erstwhile party has been fraudulently parading in the state  in order to mislead the members of the party in particular and the people of the state in general.

May God open the inner eyes of the other members of the PDP who have been held in political captivity by strange forces in the Ede country home of the leaders who have turned them into a willing political chess game for their own selfish interest.

It was Dr Akin Ogunbiyi, former PDP governorship aspirant, followed by Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun, a former permanent member of the PDP Board of Trustees and Prince Dotun Babayemi, also former PDP governorship aspirant who fiercely slugged it out with Governor Adeleke during the 2022 elections, that trail blazed the ditching of the crisis-ridden PDP with fanfare in Osogbo.

It is a bad omen for the Osun State PDP that its first eleven who are seasoned politicians are leaving it in droves which confirms obvious lack of internal democracy in the party.

It would not be a surprise if Governor Adeleke, Dr Deji Adeleke and Mrs Modupe Sanni-Adeleke who are the brain boxes of the party would be the only party chieftains left who would be dishing out directives to their lapdog, Sunday Bisi,  during the third quarter of the current administration in the state.

The APC has no pity for Governor Adeleke and his cohorts for the political tsunami that is befalling the ruling party which is in the fulfilment of an overburdened proverb that 'no matter the speed of a lie, truth will catch up with it and overtake it in a matter of a second'.

However, if resignation and suspension from a party is not a strange phenomenon, what is running a riot in the minds of the right-thinking members of the people of Osun State is the propriety of the state PDP chairman announcing the suspension of Dr Peter Babalola after he had turned in his letter of resignation.

The development underscored the fact that the Osun State chapter of the PDP is a pack of confused and disillusioned entities who need an intensive training in the party administration.

It is right from a Saturday that the sign of a rosy Sunday would manifest; Osun PDP has become a once-upon-a-time party in the state.
