The Nigerian government has announced that there are only eight Benin Republic and Togo-authorized Universities for Nigerian students.
The Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman disclosed this in a Channels Television Interview on Sunday.
His comments came after the Minister last week said that degree certificates from Cotonou University in the Benin Republic issued between 2017 to date will be rendered invalid.
The policy direction comes amid the investigative report where a Nigerian journalist acquired a degree from a university in the Benin Republic in two months and used it to get deployed for the National Youth Service Corps.
In an update to the development, Mamman listed the public universities and federal government-approved institutions qualified to offer degree programs in Togo for students from Nigeria.
They include:
1. Universite De Lome
2. Universite De Kara
3. Catholic University of West Africa
Similarly for Benin, only the below are recognised universities for Nigerian students:
1. Universite D’abomey-Calavi
2. Universite De Parakou
3. Universite Nationale Des Sciences, Technology Ingénierie Et Mathématiques
4. Université Nationale D’ Agriculture
5. Universite Africaine De Devlopment Cooperatif
