Leventis Foundation Agricultural Training School Hosts Successful Farm-to-Community Marketing Fare

The Leventis Foundation Agricultural Training School in Imo, Ilesa, successfully held its inaugural Farm-to-Community Marketing Fare.

This event, organized in collaboration with the Ijesa Community Development Association (ICDA), aimed to provide local residents with high-quality agricultural products at affordable prices, while also promoting agricultural education and fostering community relations.

Dr. T.M. Popoola, the Principal of the Leventis Foundation Agricultural Training School, expressed his satisfaction with the event’s outcome.

He noted that the strong turnout from the community, with residents arriving as early as 7:00 AM, demonstrated the event's impact and Ijesa community’s enthusiasm for accessing premium products at farm gate rates.

Dr. Popoola highlighted that the fare not only sold out within two hours but also received positive feedback on the quality and affordability of the products.

The fare featured a diverse range of items, including cassava tubers, stems, seedlings, maize, live broilers, frozen chicken, beef, pork, rabbit, fresh fish, eggs, and fabricated farm tools. Processed foods such as spices, honey, flours, drinks, snacks, herbal teas, and barbecue items were also available, with over 50 processed products on display.

The event was a practical demonstration of Ijesa community marketing for the school’s trainees, offering them hands-on experience in customer engagement and marketing.

The success of the fare underscored the potential for future initiatives aimed at strengthening ties between the school and Ijesa community.

In light of the positive response and high sales volume, the school management has decided to make the marketing fare a monthly event. The next fare is scheduled for August, continuing the collaboration with Ijesa Community Development Association and furthering their commitment to agricultural education and community support.

The Ijesa Community Development Association is currently sponsoring 100 students from Ijesa extraction at the school under its Agricpreneurship Empowerment Scheme, further highlighting the significance of this partnership.
