NYSC declares state coordinator, driver missing

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) says two of its staff members are missing.

Eddy Megwa, the spokesperson of the scheme, identified the missing officers as Okun Christopher and Daniel Effiong Asibong.

Christopher is the NYSC’s state coordinator in Akwa-Ibom and Asibong is his driver.

Megwa said the two staff members were in transit to Uyo in Akwa-Ibom when they were last communicated with.

He said the officers went missing between Onitsha and Owerri Road on July 29, 2024.

The vehicle they were commuting with was a white official Hilux with registration number “27D31FG”.

Megwa said all efforts to uncover their whereabouts have yielded no result to date.

“Anyone with useful information regarding their whereabouts should contact any of the 37 NYSC state secretariats, area offices, and the national directorate headquarters in Abuja or the nearest police station or other security agencies for prompt action,” he said.

Christopher Okun assumed duty as the 19th state coordinator of the NYSC in Akwa Ibom in April 2024.
