Hon. Olugbenga Omoniyi popularly known as T&K in his bid to boost the morale of Ilesa East All Progressives Congress APC members on Friday disbursed not less than N3 million to party faithfuls in his constituency, as part of his efforts to offer financial support and relief to individuals amidst the current economic downturn.
No fewer than 300 members of the Ilesa East local government chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) benefitted from the cash gift programme
Hon. Olugbenga Omoniyi was the immediate past elected Chairman of Ilesa North East Local Development Area LCDA under the platform of the All Progressives Congress. An election upturned by the Executive Order of Ademola Adeleke the Executive Governor of Osun state and consequently nullified by a Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo on November 25, 2022.
The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) had on Saturday, October 15, 2022, conducted the local government election across the state and declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the election.
The event which was held at the Itabalogun Ilesa East LG party Secretariat attracted many party men, women and youth.
Some of the beneficiaries include All Ilesa East LG APC Executive Committee members, selected party faithfuls across all the eleven wards and nominees from the Ilesa East APC leadership.
Many of the beneficiaries, showered encomiums on the donor as they hailed him for his kind gesture.
Hon. Gbenga Omoniyi while appreciating party faithful said, ”the Ilesa East APC has hit the ground running and with God on our side , the future is very bright."
Speaking further, Hon. Omoniyi said the initiative was geared towards offering financial support and relief to individuals amidst the current hardship being faced by Nigerians as a result of the removal of petrol subsidy.
The Ijesa zone APC leader Chief Kunle Odeyemi while speaking at the occasion urged Hon. Gbenga Omoniyi to continue his kind gesture by contributing to the growth of his constituents.
Chief Kunle Odeyemi also remarked that the APC will take part in the next LG election.
"We need to re-strategize and find a way to solving the problem of the division in the party." He said as he pleaded that when the candidates of the party for the local government elections emerged all party faithfuls should all decide to vote for them.
In the same vein, the Ilesa East APC chairman, Hon. Fowowe commended the former chairman for the kind gesture.
Party stalwarts present at the event included, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, former Osun House of Assembly Speaker, Hon. Dosu Gidigbi, Hon. Sayo Abimbola, Hon. Kofo Omole, Hon. Deji Anjorin, Hon. Isola Ariyo, Hon. Akinyele Akintola, Comes. Victor Ashaolu, Hon. Mrs. Mulikat Adetunji amongst others.
