Women Empowerment: Osun APC gifts Cash, food items to women as First Lady offers N50m empowerment grant to 1000 pettty traders






The atmosphere at the Osun APC Secretariat was filled with excitement on Thursday as the Women Leader of the Party, Alhaja Kudirat Fakokunde launched the Cash Transfer Empowerment for Women Traders and Distribution of Palliative Rice for Women in Osun State. 


KAKAKIOODUA had earlier reported that no fewer than 37,000 women across the country are expected to benefit from the Renewed Hope Initiative re-capitalisation grant of the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu aims to uplift and support women in business  in each of the 36 states and the FCT.

Tinubu’s wife had on Aug. 15, inaugurated the RHI Economic Empowerment Programme Recapitalisation Grant for 1000 Women Petty Traders.


She said that Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), especially women petty traders form the backbone of Nigeria’s local economies.



She said that empowering women economically was strategic to assist them in overcoming their business challenges, expand their businesses, create more jobs, and contribute more robustly to nation’s economy.



According to her, economic empowerment remains a core objective of the RHI to support the economic reforms of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.


“The empowerment of 1000 women petty traders across the nation is a part of our continued commitment to drive economic growth towards a better life for families.



“We are all aware of the challenges faced by petty traders, who form the backbone of our local economies. These challenges, however, have not deterred the strength of our women to put food on the table for their families.



“Today, through the RHI Economic Empowerment Programme, we are providing 1,000 pre-selected women petty traders per state with a grant of N50,000 each to recapitalise and grow their businesses.



“Women traders are the heart of our local economies, we celebrate your hard work and determination. When women thrive, their families thrive, and by extension, our communities and nation prosper,” she said.



While distributing the N50,000 recapitalisation grant to each of the 1000 women petty traders , Osun APC Women Leader Alhaja Kudirat Fakokunde urged the beneficiaries to utilise the money to grow their businesses and be self-reliant.


She also urged them to continue to pray for the success of the federal and state governments as they strive to better the lots of Nigerians.



Alhaja Kudirat Fakokunde, the Osun State APC Women Leader, expressed gratitude to Senator Oluremi Tinubu for this commendable initiative, emphasizing its significant impact on the women of Osun. She highlighted that this intervention would greatly enhance the businesses of women in the region.



Acknowledging the importance of food security, Alhaja Kudirat Fakokunde also recognized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the creation of the Food Security Programme, a groundbreaking initiative in the country's history. Additionally, she appreciated the continuous quality leadership provided by the immediate past governor of Osun State and current Minister for Marine and Blue Economy, HE Adegboyega Oyetola.



Sooko Tajudeen Lawal Olaniyi, the APC Chairman in Osun, represented by the State Organizing Secretary, Alhaji Rasheed Adeniji, urged the beneficiaries to utilize the intervention judiciously, emphasizing its ongoing nature for the benefit of all.



He extended thanks to H.E Adegboyega Oyetola, and his Wonderful Wife Alh Kafayat Oyetola,President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and Alhaja Fakokunde for their unwavering support.




Additionally, more than 500 women engaged in petty trading will receive fifty thousand naira each to enhance their businesses.



Furthermore, over two thousand households are set to receive 25kg bags of rice as part of the palliative distribution.


Some of the beneficiaries, appreciated the First Lady for prioritising the welfare of women in the country.


"This money is coming at a time when we need it the most. It will surely go a long way to boost our trades and support our families,” they said


In attendance at the event today are HE Mrs Titilayo Ponle the former deputy governor of Osun State, Alhaja Latifat Giwa, Hon Mrs Sola Ogunfolaju who served as former cabinet Members, Alhaja Awawu Asindemade The Iyaloja General of Osun/South West,Women leaders across all the local government in the State to mention but a few.
