With fanfare, people from all walks of life convened in Osogbo, the capital city of Osun State on Sunday to celebrate the milestone achievements of the immediate past Governor and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, who clocked 70th.
The entire atmosphere was rented with ecstasy and gratitude to God by the attendees of the 70th birthday anniversary held at the popular Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Office, Ogo-Oluwa area, Osogbo as they showered encomiums on the celebrant.
The event which was graced by the movers-and-shakers in the business and political worlds had in attendance, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, National Inland Waterways Authority, NIWA, Mr. Bola Oyebamiji; Director General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Dr. Dayo Mobereola; Executive Director, Federal Housing Authority, FHA, Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye; Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission, NPC, Dr. Amidu Tadese; Director of Protocol to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Alhaji Issa Niniola; immediate past Nigerian Ambassador to Mexico, Hon. Adejare Bello; immediate Past Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission, Senator Mudashiru Hussain; former Osun Deputy Governors, former Speakers of the State Assembly, former members of the State and National Assemblies; top government functionaries; heads of agencies, business tycoons, corporate heads among others.
The event was also graced by traditional rulers led by the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun and Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Olabomi as politicians from all walks of life, including celebrant's friends and associates stormed the venue to pay special birthday tributes to the former governor.
Also in attendance were clerics and the guest lecturer at the occasion and Chief Imam of Offa, Kwara State, Sheikh Muyideen Saliman; Chief Imam of Osogbo, Sheikh Musa Animasahun among others.
Speaking, the celebrant expressed gratitude to Almighty God for sparing his life to witness yet another milestone age in life. Oyetola who spoke at the occasion through zoom eulogized sponsors of series of events on his behalf to commemorate his 70th birthday.
The former Osun state Governor used the occasion to advocate peaceful coexistence among ranks and files of the party - the All Progressives Congress, APC just as he assured to continue to provide quality leadership as the leader of the party in the state and as a national figure.
Oyetola who couldn't hide his joy as depicted in his physique upon seeing large number of people that attended the event, described the occasion as a point of call to further strengthen the existing unity, love, cohesion and harmony.
The celebrant who emphasized the efficiency of prayers as pointer to success and antidote to yokes further implored leaders and members of the party to continue to uphold the pillar of God, maintain and sustain the tempo of unity and progress which the progressive family is known for.
While applauding the planning committee ably led by the former Speaker, Hon. Timothy Owoeye in particular and sponsors of the events in general, alluded to the successes recorded through the Ilerioluwa free medical outreach that catered for the pressing health needs of close to 5000 Osun residents.
"I am very surprised to be warmly celebrated in this quality manner. This is just a great thing coming to me and my family. I never had the premonition of such but today, I thank God for the whole success of the events. I am far away to Saudi Arabia for the lesser hajj but this is a great thing. I am very happy for the show of love and for the unity and peace existing in the party. I want to appeal to us all to continue to cohabitate peacefully and work together as a united entity for the success and progress of our party. Nothing is as valuable as peace and cohesion.
"I must sincerely appreciate the one-week long activities that culminated in this success. This shows the high level of unity and progress that exist within the party but we must not rest on our oars to continue to work together as a formidable entity", ha added.
Earlier in his lecture, the Chief Imam of Offa, Sheikh Muyideen Saliman acknowledged the rare virtues of the celebrant in whom he said he has always been pleased to have met in life.
The renowned cleric attributed the success of the event to the good deeds of the celebrant who he described as a bridge builder of no equal means.
According to the Islamic preacher, the significance of the birthday anniversary being sponsored by the celebrant's friends and associates was a clear indication to Oyetola's ingenuity, wisdom and generosity. He called on the people to emulate the good gesture of the celebrant who he said had impacted tremendously in people's lives .
Earlier, the APC state chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal; Chairman of the birthday planning committee, Honourable Timothy Owoeye; NIWA boss, Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji among others extolled the rare virtues of the celebrant.
