APC Governorship Victory In Edo Sends Jitters To Adeleke, Co-political Travellers* - Osun APC

The.Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has hailed the outcome of the last Saturday's Edo State governorship election, where the party's candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, emerged victorious.

The party stated that the  result of the election have sent an incurable jitter into the camp of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, saying there is a cause for the embattled state Governor Ademola Adeleke to become restless, sleepless and uncomfortable as there is no political malfeasance that the outgoing Edo State governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki,  has committed that his counterpart in Osun State is not guilty of.

The Osun APC noted that immediately the Supreme Court gave Governor Ademola a judgement in his favour as the substantive state governor, it is still fresh in the memory of the discerning members of the society how he even as the governor-elect, turned himself into a democratic dictator like an emperor who was dishing out oppressive and repressive orders to haunt his real and perceived political foes within his party and in the leading opposition APC  in the state.

Surprisingly, Senator Adeleke as a governor-elect was even making  illegal policy statements forgetting that the inalienable constitutional first tenure of his predecessor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, wasn't anything short of four years either in seconds, minutes or hours.

It is not easy to forget how Governor Adeleke was behaving like a bull in a China shop by needlessly causing tension, acrimony and schism across the length and breadth of the state simply because he had emerged a governor as if no one had ever been in the state before then.

It was right at the inauguration of his government that Governor Adeleke started his missteps of governance by coming up with obnoxious  Executive Orders to begin the infamy and opprobrium of his government which has negatively affected his administration beyond redemption to date.

It would be recalled that one of the unpopular Executive Orders rolled out by Adeleke was the sack of the teachers, OYES Cadets and health workers numbering thousands employed by his predecessor which have resulted into the pungent shortage of manpower in some sensitive sectors in the state.

The Adeleke Executive Order that plummeted his popularity among his admirers was the shabby treatment that he gave to the traditional rulers in the state by unjustifiably sacking three of them who were duly nominated, properly enthroned and loved by their subjects. The Owa of Igbajoland, Oba Gboyega Famodun III, the Aree of Iree and the Akinrun of Ikirun, are the direct victims of the Adeleke misgovernance.

The traditional rulers whom the nation's constitution put under the superintendent of the governor are taking the usual development as an absurdity viewed and taken hook, line and sinker in the principle of an injury to one, is an injury to all.

Whoever might have been thinking for Governor Adeleke to wage a war of attrition against the monarchs in the state has succeeded in laying a very solid foundation for creating an irredeemable problem for his government which has become its albatross that would hunt it into imminent and inescapable perdition.

One wonders what business has Governor Adeleke got to do with the issues concerning the traditional rulers when it is verifiably on record that the late governor's brother, Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke, former Governor Bisi Akande, ex-Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola,  former Governor Rauf Aregbesola and ex-Governor Oyetola did not dabble into the dangerous terrain of obaship institution in the state?

There is no restitution that Governor Adeleke can make at this point in the history of the state that can ameliorate the incurable damage that he has caused to the traditional institution in the state as such would be too late to achieve any result that may confer any positive political advantage on Adeleke and his co-travellers.

The hatred of Governor Adeleke for transparency, probity and accountability in government is another potent reason that it would be an impossible Utopia for the wobbled Adeleke administration to find the favour of the good people of Osun State who have been witnessing how the public funds are being misused.

The governor is embarking on misplaced priority of construction of five flyovers in the state where the citizenry can hardly feed themselves.

Above are some of the crimes committed  against humanity by Governor Adeleke which are existing in common with the disgraced outgoing Edo State Governor Obaseki subsequently forming the basis for the jittery nature of the Osun State incumbent Governor and his kitchen cabinet members.

Governance is not a tea party. The people of Osun State don't need a docile governor who would only be excited and be hyper-active when mundane issues are being discussed but remain deaf and dumb when intellectual issue that would aid the growth and development of Osun is the kernel of a discussion.

Though all work and no play make Jack a dull boy, it is imperative to state that such overburdened and overstretched saying should not  be a passport for a supposed governor who knows his onions to always leave the state for Lagos, Abuja, London, America etc in search of merriment on a Wednesday or Thursday of almost every week and come back overspent on Tuesday.

A thinking governor who is capable and actually has time for his constitutional role would be genuinely worried why it has become a usual occurrence for the members of his party to be defecting into the opposition party in droves. But what concerns Governor Nuru, the son of Adeleke with such an unusual development as long as it doesn't affect his weekly jollification sessions outside the state! If all the members of the PDP in the state like, they can defect into the major opposition party has been the true reading of his body language.

The people of Osun State would like to sharply depart from a governor who has been ruling the state through deceits like continuously lying that he has not been collecting his security votes when a fact check revealed that

from January to June, 2024, Governor Adeleke had drawn N684 million for security services.  The unresolved issue of the 114 tractors that the governor claimed to have purchased while the brazen lie came into the open when only 31 tractors which whereabouts remain unknown today were sighted for only a road show recently in Osogbo.

If Governor Adeleke thinks that the unresolved issue of the 55 primary health care centres that he effected while flaunting 332; borehole scandal; cornering of the Federal Government food items palliatives sent to the state and the misappropriation of the Federal Government grant meant for purchase of buses for the people of the state, have been forgotten, he is making a big mistake as the day of reckoning is fast approaching.

How Governor Adeleke could escape imminent defeat in the forthcoming 2026 elections still remains a mirage as he has stepped on toes by chasing away those who worked for his victory in his party during the 2022 elections. A governor who is verifiably guilty of nepotism and favouritism by recruiting members of his family to man sensitive positions in his government would have his fall likened to that of a pack of cards.

There cannot be any escape route for Governor Adeleke in the 2026 elections as he has manifestly murdered sleep and scrubbed his nose with the proverbial head of a python.  These and many more factors are the  reasons why Governor Adeleke has been puzzled with the APC governorship candidate, Monday Okpebholo's 291,664; Labour Party's 22,763 and PDP'S 247,274 votes and the satellite governor is visibly confronted with political heebie-jeebies.
