The kingmakers in Ilesa, otherwise known as Ijesa Senate or the highest parliament, that seemed to have split into factions over the performance of the traditional passage rites for the deceased Owa Adekunle Aromolaran II have reunited to continue with the rites and receiving of distinguished visitors who throng the Aromolaran Civic Centre Ereja, Ilesa to present their condolences to Ijesa people.
KAKAKIOODUA recall that the Ogboni of Ipole-Ijesa Oba Omokehinde Samson Oyebade Oyeleye on Wednesday 12th September 2024 led the Iwarefamefa to inform the whole world of the demise of the late Owa Aromolaran and declared a 7-day curfew that include closure of Markets. Members of Iwarefamefa identified with the declaration were High Chief Saka Fapohunda, Ogboni of Ilesa, HRM Oba Festus Awogboro, Alademure of Ibokun, HRM Oba Femi Agunsoye, Elegboro of Ijebujesa and High Chief Busuyi James Gbadamosi, Obaodo of Ilesa.
While in a separate press statement on Friday, 14th September 2024, Obanla of Ilesa joined the High Chiefs (Agba Ijesas) led by High Chief Bola Orolugbagbe, the Odole of Ilesa to separately announce the transition of Owa Aromolaran II but annulling the 7-day curfew earlier declared by the Ogboni of Ipole-Ijesa faction while declaring a 90-day mourning period and closure of the royal palace.

There are six all-living members of the Iwarefamefa and they are: HRM Oba Omokehinde Samson Oyebade Oyeleye, Ogboni of Ipole-Ijesa, HRM Oba Festus Awogboro, Alademure of Ibokun, Elegboro of Ijebujesa, High Chief Saka Fapohunda,Ogboni of Ilesa, High Chief Folorunso Ibitoye, Obanla of Ilesa and High Chief James Gbadamosi, Oba-odo of Ilesa.
On Sunday a joint closed-door meeting was held that lasted for about one hour with the Iwarefamefa and the High Chiefs in attendance.
