The National Executive Committee of the Ilesa Grammar School Old Students Association (ILEGSOSA), has sent a letter of condolence to the the Iwarefa Mefa of ljesaland, all Royal Fathers and High Chiefs, YeyeRise and all Women-Folk, the Asiwaju and Yeye Asiwaju of ljesaland, and all distinguished sons and eminent daughters of ljesaland, on the transition of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, CFR, LLD, the Owa Obokun Adimula of ljesaland, which sad event was announced on Thursday, September 12th 2024.
The condolence letter was signed by Engr. (Dr.) Obisesan Daramola, ILEGSOSA National President, on behalf of Ilesa Grammar School Old Students' Association, at home and in Diaspora to commiserate with AII Peoples in ljesaland,
He noted that Oba Aromolaran II came from a lineage of special history with Ilesa Grammar School.
"We recall with gratitude to God, it was during the reign of his father, Oba Oduyomade Aromolaran I, that discussions on establishing a Secondary School in ljesaland commenced in 1922. The discussions came into fruition, still during that period, with the establishment of Ilesa Grammar School in l934.
"Oba Aromolaran II ascended the throne in 1982, and throughout his 42 years on the throne, he remained a proud father to Ilesa Grammar School.
"In particular, we want to place on record our gratitude to His Imperial Majesty, for his solidarity with Old Students during the dark days, October 2017 to October 2020, when the then Osun State administration, ignorant of history, phased out Ilesa Grammar School.
"A true father indeed, like the rock of Gibraltar, Baba remained solidly with us, like the Northern Star, Baba remained constant and unwaivered until victory was achieved and
our school was restored, restored with our name, restored with our pride and with our honour.
"We especially cherish this and many other good memories about Baba's life and times.
"We specially commiserate with the immediate Oba Aromolaran II family and the entire Aromolaran Royal House; on the departure of this great Oba. However, the entire family should take consolation in the fact that the lineage and in particular, Oba Aromolaran II has a golden place in the history of ljesaland. And, we Old Students of lesa Grammar School, feel proud to be part of that beautiful history.
"We pray that Almighty God will uphold and support all members of the immediate family during these periods of mourning. The Lord will console all Sons and Daughters of ljesaland wherever they are on the Globe, and all peoples within Ijesaland.
"The soul of Oba Adekunle Aromolaran II will continue to Rest In Perfect Peace. Amen."
