"Nigeria had lost one of its most revered traditional giants" -Ijesa Elders Forum mourns Oba Dr. Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, CFR,LLD

The Ijesa Elders Forum under the Chairmanship of Chief Akinwande Akinola, the Sawe of Ilesa today expressed shock and grief over the death of  the Owa Obokun Adimula, the Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, CFR, LLD.

A statement by the Vice Chairman of the Forum, Prof. Rotimi Tayo made available to KAKAKIOODUA, consoles the entire Ijesa people, the Agbanla, (the ijesa Senate/Highest Parliament), all Ijesaland traditional rulers, Agba Ijesas, Owa-in-Council and the entire sons and daughters  of Ijesaland on the recent demise of HIM, Oba Dr Adekunle Aromolaran II, who until his demise, was the Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland.

The statement read in part:

“With the passing into eternal Glory of Owa Aromolaran, Nigeria has lost one of its longest - reigning traditional monarchs whose contributions to the promotion of unity and peaceful co-existence among his subjects cannot be forgotten for years to come.

”Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, who ascended the throne in 1982, had used his long reign to serve his people with dedication and identified with their aspirations at all times.

"The transition of the first class monarch has left a deep void that would be difficult to fill.

“For 42 years, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, who was the Deputy Chairman of the Osun State Council of Obas until his demise, was a major pillar within the Osun traditional institution, and a powerful force for keeping Ilesa city cosmopolitan.

“Indeed, his 42-year reign was invaluable in advancing the growth and progress of Ijesaland.

"Oba Aromolaran was a pillar that has, for decades, championed the course of peace, unity, and development of Ilesa, Ijesaland, Osun state and the country as a whole.

"As an erudite economist, the loss of His Imperial Majesty, at this material time is most devastating, because it has come at a time when his vast experience, is very much needed to help the nation navigate itself out of the current economic, security, and social woes bedeviling it.”

"His reign recorded very rapid political, economic, social and educational changes for Ijesa people."

The Ijesa Elders Forum members will, among other things, especially miss Kabiyesi's annual Forum Day Easter Event which he religiously attends as a matter of duty.
