This is the first time in the history Imobi Iwara Ijesa to directly feel the presence of the United Nations.
Female students drawn from schools in and around Imobi, Iwara Ijesa witnessed the ceremony where talks were directed on their crucial role in shaping a better future.

highlighted the challenges faced by girls around the world and Nigeria in particular.
Speaking on the 2024 International Day of the Girl Child’s theme, ‘Girls’ vision for the future’., Mr. Oluwaseun Adetutu, implored girls gathered at the program that being a girl shouldn’t determine what they can do, where they can go or who they can become.
He highlighted some of the challenges confronting Nigeria Girls as he elaborated on gender based violence that are directed towards them, denying girls their rights, restricting their choices.
”This year’s theme conveys the need for urgent action and persistent hope, driven by the power of girls’ voices and vision for the future." He said
Also speaking, Hon. Justice Rekia Haastrup highlighted the fundamental children's rights to protection, education, health care, shelter and good nutrition as she admonished the children to face their studies and be focused:
"Avoid gender based violence. You are the future of our country and you can achieve a lot. Do not let anyone tell you that you cannot succeed because of your gender, don't allow anyone to deceive you. You the lawyers, doctors , engineers, leaders of tomorrow'. She said
Nurse Okotore spoke on numerous barriers” that deprive Nigerian girl children of the opportunity to thrive as she highlighted gender based violence and encouraged them to always speak out when someone tries to trample on their rights, safety or comfort.
Yeyerise of Ilesa, Chief Mrs Bola Ojo who led women chiefs to the program advised the students to work hard to achieve their dreams while imploring both genders turn to eschew violence and to be of good conduct.
