The need to make the education content in our school system to be connected to real life situations was the focus of the lecture at this year's Mandatory Continuing Professional Training of all School Principals in South West Nigeria hosted by Osun State ANCOPS at the WOCDIF Events Centre, Osogbo on Wednesday 10th October, 2024.
Speaking on the topic: Functional Education: An imperative Offensive Against Youth Unemployment in Nigeria, the Guest Speaker, Prince Abiodun Lufadeju the initiator of the Worktech Program called for a paradigm shift from Traditional Education to the more result yielding Functional Education.
Stating the link between a nation's education policy and her youth unemployment, Prince Lufadeju stated that our current Traditional Education system is outdated as an instrument to help our school leavers and graduates find their feet in the competitive world of work.
Further in his address, he enjoined school Principals and administrators to be more open to innovative ideas that could help them make the education content more Functional.
Earlier in her opening remarks, The Osun State ANCOPS President, Mrs. Eniola Awoyemi appreciated the Osun State Governor Senator Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke for the huge support towards hosting the event.
The Osun State Commissioner for Education Hon. Dipo Eluwole represented the Governor, and declared open the 2-day event.
