The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC)  has mourned the death of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, who died  at the age of 56 in Lagos yesterday after a brief illness.

According to the Osun State chairman of the APC, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, in a statement issued by the party's Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi, today, the death of Lieutenant-General Lagbaja was sudden and tragic.

In Lawal's words: "Our sympathies go out to his family, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ashiru Olatoye Olaniyan II, the Olobu of Ilobu, and the people of Ilobu, Osun State.

"I acknowledged the late General’s dedication to national service and his exceptional contributions to the Nigerian Army.

"He was indeed a distinguished leader who would be remembered for his integrity and commitment to the nation.

"The fallen Chief of Army Staff was an exemplary leader and patriot who showcased remarkable leadership across various assignments, including his roles as platoon commander in the 93 Battalion and the 72 Special Forces Battalion.

"On behalf of my family and the Osun State chapter of the APC, I pray  that God grants his family and dependants the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.

"We, as a party, shall continue to honour his legacy of dedication, bravery and service to  the nation. May his soul rest in peace", Sooko Lawal prayed.
