WE NEED OUR DESERVED PEACE IN OSUN STATE... ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.... By Akinyele Akintola

Osun State today is in the quagmire of peace and security challenges. Organized crimes by criminals continue to threaten lives of innocent citizens. Unfortunately, the government is being accused of shielding known criminals who were on the watchlist and wanted list of the Nigerian Police in the state.

To win the last Governorship Election, scores of innocent people were killed in various towns and villages in the state, and in the most gruesome circumstances.

Two members of a family, Mr. Abideen Olalekan and Mrs. Khafayat Olalekan were killed in Ede in August, 2022. Up till today, every moves possible have been taken by the government to shield the criminals who perpetrated the dastardly acts. The case seems to have been swept under the carpet because it looks more like a crime by the Agent of the state against the people.

The Osun State government under Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke has taken the extreme audacity, unprecedented in the state, of giving juicy and strategic appointments to gangsters and hoodlums suspected to be behind the various cases of Kidnappings, political killings, Cultism, Murders and other crimes. Appointing such undesirable characters and their sponsors into strategic positions has made their arrests by the police very difficult, almost impossible. Ironically, most of the loyal members who worked so hard for the party called PDP are being noticed everywhere languishing in abject wants and hunger.

The Osun State government continues to use the removal of fuel subsidy as excuse for its abysmal failure despite the unprecedented Federal Allocations being received every month.

Aside those killed in Ede, many innocent souls were eliminated and untimely sent to their graves in IJESALAND, Ikirun, Apomu, Ikire, Iwo Osogbo and so on. And, it's no longer a News that elected Representatives, political appointees and even some overzealous traditional rulers have been coming out to make self-confessions to the dastardly and nefarious roles they played in the 2022 governorship election in order to gain upper hands over the APC.

Since the assumption of office by Demola Adeleke, State Crimes have gained tremendous accelerations across the state while the government remains moribund at providing necessary reliefs to ameliorate sufferings.

State crime is any crime committed by a state or its agents to achieve a policy. This can include crimes committed by the government, police, or other state employees. Recent killings in Ejigbo (Dr. Richard Adeleke Ori Okin), Ilobu-Ifon Osun ( orchestrated communal killings) and the ongoing arrest of an Officer of the Government,  Iyanda Alowonle are vivid examples of the strong support the Adeleke government is giving to criminals at the expense of patriotic and diligent citizens.

The question someone asked me, is, "what do you expect from a governor who spent all his years in America without going to school or learning any business or trade, than this kind of organized state crimes we are witnessing in Osun State?". And I couldn't but agree with him, "a vagabond as ordinary citizen cannot but,  remains a vagabond in power ".

It is public knowledge that the Osun State government has spent more on securing the bails of criminals arrested by the Osun State Police Command than it has spent on Agriculture or Food Security in the past 21 months. It is also on records that many of those in Police Nets who were arrested in connection with various nefarious acts in the state have made useful statements that seriously indict the state and some of its officers and even some elected Representatives.

It is not an exaggeration to say it here that the present government has spent fortunes and time to protect hoodlums and gangsters than any government before it in the state.

It is therefore high time we stopped the Demola Adeleke government from turning Osun State into a state of Genocide and massacre. We need our deserved peace in Osun State.
