The 16th edition of the Okunmadewa's breakfast fellowship, an annual gathering where political, social, business elites, friends, families come together to fellowship, pray celebrate Jesus and thank God was held on Thursday 26th December 2024 at the residence of Prof and Mrs. Foluso Okunmadewa on Awolowo Avenue near Obokun Guest House, in Ilesa, Osun State.

This has become an annual boxing day morning event that serves a hot breakfast and offers an informal worship service.
The Diocesan Bishop of the Diocese of Ilesa, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Rt. Rev. Prof. Dapo Folorunso Asaju made a second time in succession as a guest preacher.
Addressing the attendees, Bishop Asaju appreciated the long served World Bank Professor Foluso Okunmadewa for bringing people together annually and thanked the participants for coming to Ijesaland to contribute to its development.
"Whatever we are today, we owe it to God. He has used the Okunmadewa's to bring us together to acknowledge Him. He has been the One who has given us lives and all our resources."

Highlighting on the theme 'The Reason for Thanksgiving' , Prof. Dapo Asaju cited Psalm 103 and Isaiah 60 to encourage his listeners to always appreciate God all the time in the face of chaotic and difficult time Nigerians are facing at this time. "Light will shine better in darkness. Arise and shine, for without God, we can't achieve anything". He said
Turning to the parents, he advised them to make their children come home regularly since there is no place like home as he admonished them to go back to the tradition of gathering their family members every morning for prayer session.
The Fellowship Breakfast featured a prayer session to thank the Lord for all of His provisions and all the victories of 2024. Prayers were also offered for peace in Ijesaland and a peaceful enthronement of a new Owa Obokun. Prayer also offered for Nigeria, as Pastor Mrs Olusola Awe, Pastor Amos Adetunji and Pastor Olumide Daramola led the the attendees.
One other important highlight of the annual breakfast get-together is the host family giving gifts to regular participants and friends of the family that made milestones achievements. Friends of the family that attained age 60, 70, 80 are specifically recognized.
Chief Mrs Yemisi Falope and Mr. Ebenezer Okunmadewa were honored for celebrating their diamond jubilee.
Mr. Kanpo Aduroja who recently relocated to Nigeria.
Mr. Olu Joshua, Prof. Isaac Adewole, former Minister of Health was recognized in absentia, Mr. Alade Falomo and Mr. Akinloye Ajayi-Obe were celebrated for their platinum jubilee as Mrs. Akinola , wife of Chief. Akinwande Akinola Sawe of Ilesa was honored for celebrating her octogenarian birthday.
Sir Akinwande Akinola, Sir Dr. Tayo Haastrup and wife Dame Justice Rekiatou Haastrup and Dame Abeni Ogunbiyi, Mother of the wife of Prof. Foluso Okunmadewa were honored as regular participants of the annual breakfast fellowship that offered Knighthood and Damehood into the order of St. John at the Cathedral Church Of St. John Iloro, Ilesa, Osun State.
Pastor Mrs. Olusola Awe appointment as Tutor General at the Osun State Ministry of Education, Dr. Lanre Alake attaining a PHD certificate and Master Joel Olatide Oshatuyi graduation with a B.sc in Computer science at Elisade University were also recognized as milestones achievements.
The retirement of Prof. Foluso Okunmadewa, the convener of the Breakfast fellowship from the World Bank after 30 years service received a special congratulatory attention.
Chief Afolabi Igbaroola and wife also presented their first grandson that celebrated his first birthday.
Distinguished personalities of the 16th Ilesa Breakfast fellowship included, Mr. Rotimi Makinde and wife, Prof. Olu Obi, President Egbe.Atunluse, Prof. Kayode Adedeji also of Egbe Atunluse and Mr. Kanpo Aduroja who recently relocated to Nigeria.
As usual, the gathering witnessed the new generation Ijesa elites that included Chief Akinwande Akinola Sawe of Ilesa and wife, Asiwaju and Yeye Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, Looja Dr. Adetayo Haastrup and wife, Prof. Kolawole Kazeem, Dr. Oladimeji Alo, Dr. Akin Oginnni, Engr. Yemi Oguntominiyi, Hon Gbenga Onigbogi and wife. Mr. Bosun Falore, Rev. Lowo Adebiyi,Dr. Akin Moses, Chief Mrs Yemisi Ariyibi.
