The State Executive Committee of the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, stating that the former state governor has been trying immensely to add substantial value to the status of the party in the state.
Rising from an emergency meeting presided over by the state chairman of the party, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, on Tuesday in Osogbo, the state capital, the state executive members of the party made a resolution that Alhaji Oyetola has been a blessing to the state APC chapter as he has been supporting the party both morally, financially and with his other God-given endowments.
The Osun State APC which recalled the unalloyed support given to the party by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy disclosed that the party is still flourishing in the state and performing its opposition role effectively because of the pillar of support being rendered to the party by Alhaji Oyetola.
It was unanimously resolved at the meeting that all the stakeholders of the APC in the state should continue to pray for Allah's guidance and divine protection from Allah for Alhaji Oyetola during the course of his service to the nation in a ministerial capacity and the leader of the APC in the state.
According to the resolution of the APC state executive committee, the party has not picked anybody as the anointed governorship candidate of the party, pleading with the party's state executive committee to remain resolute and united as leaders of the party without having any favourite among those who may be secretly eyeing the governorship ticket of the party at this crucial time in the life of the party.
According to the resolution: "He who will be a peace maker must not fuel a crisis. The state executive members of our party should, as officers of the party, not pitch a tent with any governorship aspirant in order to avoid the cataclysm that befell the party before the 2022 elections.
"We should desist from fuelling crisis in our party as leaders of the party in our own respective right. We shouldn't encourage division in our exco. Let's exercise restraint and work as a team towards the resolve of the party to occupy the Bola Ige House, Abere, via 2026 election.
"It is morally wrong and devoid of political leadership tact for the state party executive officers to have a favourite among the governorship aspirants. Let's improve on the fortification of our party by being more involved and proactive in our various local government council areas across the state.
"The state executive members of our party should be mindful of their messages in the social media that are capable of fuelling crises within the party with special reference to the forthcoming 2026 governorship election and try as much as possible to discourage groupings in the interest of the sustainability of the oneness and unification of the party", the resolution stated.
The meeting took several steps that would impact positively on the forthcoming local government council elections and speedily aid the registration of the new members who have joined the party.
