SELECTION OF NEW OWA OBOKUN: Can Ijesa people trust the Owa-in-Council?

The recent disagreement that ensued between the Bepo-Aromolaran royal family and the Owa-in-Council over the final funeral rites of the late Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, the Owa-Obokun of Ijesaland is an eye opener to what lays ahead.

The Bepo-Aromolaran royal family, scheduled and organized a colorful celebration of the monarch’s life on November 23 and 24, 2024. attended by a large array of participants.

The Owa-in-Council organized a similar but not well attended celebration on December 14 and the interdenominational service of Sunday 15, 2024 was a wishy-washy; the organizers laid credence to the support of the first son of the late king, Prince Adeola Aromolaran.

Meanwhile, Bepo-Aromolaran royal family in a widely published statement asked the Owa-in-Council to produce photos, video clips or other evidences to show the presence of "Prince Adeola Aromolaran" at the 14th and 15th December event for which his name was used severally to secure funds from corporate bodies, individuals and various government authorities, in the absence of which a detailed explanation on why he was absent from the occasion should be provided!

The whole  Ijesas awaited the Owa-in-Council explanations for over a week to no avail.

In clear terms, the information in the statement of observation from the Bepo-Aromolaran royal family is a clear indication that those involved in this act are trying to control the minds of Ijesa people or manipulate all Ijesa people to believe what is not while pretending to genuinely trying to do the right thing.

It is this position that warrants this opinion as some Ijesa stakeholders are at this time that Ijesaland has entered into the process of the selection of a new Owa Obokun Adimula, entrenched in fear as they expected the Owa-in-Council to counter the Bepo-Aromolaran royal family's story.

The System that is involved in the selection of the new Owa Obokun Adimula we are taught to respect, revere and believe in should not be shrouded in lies.and open to manipulation.

The authority figures that will make Ifa speak on the selection of the new Owa Obokun Adimula should live above board.
