THE STATE OF IJESALAND ON THE RACE TO FILL THE THROWN OF OWA OBOKUN OF IJESALAND
Greetings, esteemed members of the press, distinguished guests, and fellow citizens of ljesaland,
I stand before you today as a concerned son of our great land, Prince Kayode Michael Adewale Arimoro, to address a matter of profound significance that touches the very core of our identity, traditions, and future.
As many of you are aware, there has been growing tension within our community regarding the ongoing selection process for the new Owa Obokun.
It is with a heavy heart that I bring to your attention the actions of certain kingmakers and stakeholders who have chosen to ignore the sacred tenets of Ifa, the divination and spiritual system that our ancestors revered.
The Ifa deity is not merely a symbol of our cultural heritage; It embodies the wisdom, guidance, and collective consciousness of our people. By disregarding the principles of lfa, these individuals are committing an abominable act that undermines the very essence of our identity as ljesa people. It is critical that we acknowledge this affront not only as a violation of our customs but also as a betrayal of our responsibilities to each other and to future generations.
We find ourselves at a crossroads; one path leads us toward compliance with the judiciary and our traditional values, while the other tempts us into silence and complicity. It is imperative that we choose wisely. I implore allbstakeholders to reflect deeply on the implications of their actions and to remember that true leadership is rooted in respect for tradition and the voices of the people.
Let us not forget that the courts exist to uphold justice and ensure that our customs are honored. We must rally around our judicial system as our last bastion of hope.
It is our duty to advocate for a transparent and lawful process, one that honors our customs and allows for the rightful selection of our next Owa Obokun through the revered channels of Ifa.
Installing Owa from a particular lineage 3 times back to back in a ruling house sends the others into oblivion. Moreso the said candidate is nowhere near the least qualified prince.
In conclusion, I call upon every member of ljesa land to stand firm against any attempts to manipulate our traditions for personal gain. We must unite to protect our heritage, uphold the sanctity of Ifa, and ensure that justice prevails.
Together, we can foster a climate of respect, integrity, and harmony within our community.
Thank you for your time and attention.
