2025 Ibodi Day Celebrated in Grandeur... N500m development fund launched... Dupe Adeleke-Sanni, 3 Others Bag Chieftaincy Titles... 7 Awardees Clinch honor for Selfless Services (PHOTOS)







Saturday 15th of March, 2025, in Ibodi, Atakumosa west local government, Osun State, recorded a celebration marked with magnificence, splendor and elaborate display of festivities, when the low, the high and the mighty of the town gathered to celebrate an annual day... IBODI DAY, and canvassed the support of its sons, daughters and friends in an effort to enhance infrastructural growth in the town as the community launched a N500m development fund to achieve its goal for the growth of the town.









The event, which attracted high-caliber guests that featured H.E. Olagunsoye Oyinlola, former Osun State governor, H. E. Prince Kola Adewusi, Deputy Governor, Osun state who represented Governor Sen. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, high chiefs, social clubs, associations and "elegbes" who appeared in colourful traditional attires as they took turn to pay homage to the Oloja of Ibodi, HRM Oba Cornelius Omisade Agboluaje, Otemuyi Ogasa 1; singers and dancers thrilled guests with mind-blowing cultural performances. On stage was a juju band that also thrilled the audience to musical performances.









The atmosphere was filled with the rhythms of jubilant celebration and the promise of a new dawn, as it seemed the whole town poured into the Temidire Primary School field, the venue of the celebration.








Setting the tone for the day’s events, Oba Cornelius Omisade Agboluaje assisted by H.E. Dame Erelu Olusola Agbeja Obada, whose unwavering dedication and invaluable contributions towards the development of Ibodi have been instrumental. With the Oloja-in-Council, Oba Agboluaje conducted the traditional rites and chieftaincy conferment on Chief Mrs Modupe Adeleke Sanni as Yeye Gbobaniyi of Ibodi; Chief Mrs Jean Chaizor Anishere (SAN) asYeye Atayese of Ibodi; Barrister Adewale Adegbami as Bamofin of Ibodi and Chief Olumide Osunsina as Balogun of Ibodi. 






The recipients of the awards of honor are H. E. Erelu Olusola Obada, Distinguished Award for Humanitarian Services and Community Building; Chief Babatunde Olatunde Agbeja, Distinguished Award for Responsiveness to Community Needs and People's Welfare; Alhaj Lateef Bakare, Merit Award for Outstanding Service to Humanity; Ambassador Nimota Nihinlola Akanbi, Distinguished Woman of Virtue award for Responsiveness to People's Welfare; Pastor Paul Akingbade, Distinguished Leadership Award in Management and Social Development; Engr. Olusegun James Okebiorun, Merit Award for Outstanding Service to Community Needs; Elder Gbenga Abiola, Merit Award for Community Building.








This was done in the presence of traditional rulers from neighbouring communities, esteemed elders, dignitaries as well as many chiefs.


The major road in the community were literarily overrun by friends and well-wishers who converged on the community as early as 9am.




"The primary purpose of this year's celebration revolves around two significant projects: the completion of the Oloja Palace and the renovation of our beloved town hall. These initiatives are crucial for enhancing our community's infrastructure and will serve as symbols of our pride and unity. I sincerely pray that God will use each and every one of you here today to help us realize these ambitious goals. Your support is crucial to ensuring that these projects come to fruition and serve future generations." Hon.Kenneth Opebiyi, Chairman, Planning committee said in his welcome address 




Pastor Akingbade Paul Adedeji (JP), President, Ibodi Development Council why welcoming dignitaries and donors to the event said that Ibodi town is in urgent need of infrastructural enhancement.

The celebration train later moved to the residence of Her Excellency, Dame Erelu Olusola Obada KJW, CON venue for the big reception where the gospel music maestro, Yinka Ayefele entertained guests. 







Traditional rulers that were in Ibodi for the occasion included the Owamiran of Esa-Oke, Oba Adeyemi Adediran; the Ogboni of Ipole-Ijesa, Oba Omokeinde Oyebade; the Alademure of Ibokun, Oba Festus Awogboro; the Elegboro of Ijebujesa, Oba Engr. Olufemi Agunsoye,l; the Aree of Ire, Oba Muritala Oyelakin; the Arojo of Irojo, High Chief Olufemi Akeju amongst others.






Also in attendance were Yerise of Ilesa, High Chief Hannah Bolanle Ojo and the Yeyesogba 




Dignitaries that witnessed the occasion included top government functionaries including the Osun PDP Chairman , Hon. Sunday Bisi and Osun cabinet members, including Barr. Dosu Babatunde, commissioner for local government and chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Femi Ogungbangbe, Commissioner for Cooperative and Empowerment, Senior Special Advisers, Special Advisers etc.
