Armed militants from the al-Qaeda-affiliated group Jama’at Nasr al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM) seized control of a military position in Diapaga, Tapoa Province, in Burkina Faso’s Eastern Region late yesterday.
According to sources, the attack occurred around 5 p.m., with the militants overpowering the army unit stationed in the area. Several weapons were reportedly taken during the assault.
