In line with the Federal Government’s commitment to combating malnutrition and enhancing human capital development across Nigeria, the Executive Chairman of Ede South Local Government, Hon. Kola Salami, has approved the formation of a 3-man committee to explore and leverage the opportunities presented by the Nutrition 774 (N-774) Initiative.
The N-774 Initiative, a flagship program of the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning in collaboration with the Office of the Vice President, UNICEF, and ALGON, is designed to deliver sustainable nutrition interventions across all 774 Local Government Areas in Nigeria. It aims to address malnutrition through a multi-sectoral approach encompassing health, education, agriculture, social protection, and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH).

The committee, which will report directly to the Office of the Executive Chairman, is tasked with the following responsibilities:
*Assessment and Alignment:* To assess the current nutrition landscape in Ede South and align local efforts with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of the N-774 Initiative.
*Capacity Building:* To identify training needs and facilitate capacity-building programs for local health workers and volunteers involved in nutrition-related services.
*Community Engagement:* To design community-focused interventions that address the unique nutritional needs of our people, particularly mothers and children.
*Monitoring and Accountability:* To establish clear guidelines and accountability mechanisms ensuring transparency and efficient service delivery.
Speaking on the initiative, Hon. Kola Salami emphasized that “Ede South Local Government is committed to ensuring that no child or community is left behind. This committee will play a vital role in translating the vision of the Nutrition 774 Initiative into actionable and measurable outcomes for our people.”
The Chairman further expressed gratitude to the Federal Government and development partners for their efforts in making nutrition a national priority.
The committee is expected to submit its initial findings and recommendations within 30 days.
