The Chairman of Ilesa East local government, Hon. Lanre Balogun has said that Primary education does not only lay the foundation for other levels of education but also the fulcrum of the socio-political and economic advancement of a nation. The system that neglects primary education, which is the very foundation of the entire educational system, will not have good secondary and/or tertiary education.
Lanre Balogun made the assertion at the office of Local Inspector of Education (L.I.E), Ilesa East Local Government Education Authority, (LGEA) Ayeso , Ilesa and the Christ Apostolic Church Primary school, Okesa, St. John 1 and 2 Primary school Iloro, St. Peter's and St. Theresa' Primary school, Ijofi when he made a surprise working visit on Tuesday.
Lanre Balogun and his team comprising of Vice Chairman, Hon. Kofo Omole and all the councilors of various wards of the local government stated that he made the visit to encourage the teachers of the schools; ask questions on their various challenges and to profer solutions to those problems.
"Children are to enjoy learning and develop a desire to continue learning and harness the ability for critical thinking and logical judgment. Primary education is the bedrock of a child’s development. More so, since a child’s development cumulates to national development.
"Local government has constitutional responsibility in primary education and my administration is going to reabsorb all the teachers from the local government employed by the former governor Adegboyega Oyetola that were laid off by the Ademola Adeleke's administration" Lanre Balogun fumed when he was informed of the inadequacy of teachers in all the schools visited
