The Ijesa Community Development Assembly (ICDA) on Monday took action to empower ex-trainees from the collaboration with Leventis Foundation Agricultural Training School, Ilesa, Osun State who graduated on Thursday the 12th of December 2024.
As part of a continuous efforts to support and empower the ex-trainees, a revolving loan initiative designed to assist them in furthering their entrepreneurial aspirations has been initiated.

It will be recalled that ljesa Community Development Assembly (ICDA) under the leadership of Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, Asiwaju of Ijesaland early in 2024, as part of its Human Capital Development Programme, partnered with Leventis Foundation to empower the Ijesa youths in agribusiness.
At the graduation ceremony, 85 students that graduated are from all the six local government areas in Ijesaland. They successfully completed their respective training in Crop Production; Animal Husbandry; Fishery; Poultry and Piggery; Vegetable and Fruits, Cash Crops; Agric Engineering ; Beekeeping; and are ready to begin to create value to the economy of Ijesaland, Osun State, and Nigeria and by extension contribute to Food Security in the country.
The goal of the Monday, 7th of April , 2025 interactive session with the ex-trainees at the premises of the school is to empower them financially so they can expand on their previous investments since they completed their training, being another added efforts to enhance their opportunity in life as the ICDA restated its commitment towards training more Ijesa youth.
The ICDA vision is to create opportunities that go beyond rhetoric, by genuinely giving selected Ijesa Youths the wherewithal for a new awakening and to consciously take the right action.
In his welcome address, Dr. Yinka Muheedeen Popoola appreciated the ICDA vision and support on behalf Dr. Hope Usieta, Leventis Foundation Nigeria, Executive Director as he revealed that some of the Ex-trainees are doing wonderfully well and the impacts of the graduated students are already being felt in the community.

"Between December and today, prices of vegetables have come down in Ilesa being a direct impact on the community from the activities of the Ex-trainees that engaged in dry session farming". Dr Popoola remarked
Also, on the impact of the ICDA vision on Ijesa youths, Dr Popoola gave an example of a one time wayward and stubborn youth (name withheld) that on his admission to the school could not cope nor adapt.
"I already condemned and dismissed him from the school because of his unseriousness, only I did not implement my decision but God use the program to change his life. The story of his life has changed, ICDA has changed his narratives."
"After the graduation ceremony, he started with a cartoon of Day Old Chicks and today he has made four circles of brooding and selling". Dr Popoola said
Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi in his address to the Ex-trainees revealed that patriotic Ijesa sons and daughters have donated money to assist them and the money has been deposited at a microfinance bank to be given as repayable loans. He advised the beneficiaries to form peer cooperative group.
"You are the first ambassadors of ICDA/Leventis cooperation and this revolving loan initiative should not die with you.
"You should have the understanding that it will be repaid to enable the ICDA to continue providing loans to other set of beneficiaries and to maintain this initiative to operate as a sustainable venture." Asiwaju Fasuyi said
The highpoint of the program was the verification of documents of the Ex-trainees who appeared to be considered for the loan as the Leventis Foundation Extension Officers including the trio of Mrs Ikeade Ajayi, Dr. Marcus Lekwort Philemon and Mrs. Ogbu Temitope assisted the ICDA management team.
The ICDA management team led by Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi included Alagba Wale Idowu, Dr. Toyin Olalemi, Chief Afolabi Igbaroola, Chief Akin Olatunbosun, Chief Mrs. Yemisi Falope, Mr. Bukola Fadipe and Erelu Jumoke Olafadehan.
