Members of the prestigious Ijesa Felates Club met for their annual Family Party on Monday April 21st at noon at the Club House, Omi Asoro, Ilesa, Osun State.
The joyous occasion filled with laughter, networking and friendship, was aimed at creating a fun and memorable experience for the members such as to enhance healthy relationships between members, their wives who are associate members, children and grandchildren.
Wives of some of the departed members also attended.
In his welcome address at the event, the Director General of the Club, Dr. Biodun Ogunbeku commended all the couples, children and grandchildren present for taking out time to attend the party.
According to him, Ijesa Felates Club stands for healthy relationships not only amongst its members but between them and their immediate families.
"The concept of family unity engendered through the attendance of social functions together as spouses and in this special event, in the company of children and grandchildren, is a culture worthy of being encouraged and sustained. We also share the joy of this occasion with our close friends and associates, including the not too privileged children to make our love effective to families around us.
"We are able to give tokens to the 13 wives of our departed colleagues who are in our register as a show of our continuous love towards them and as a reminder that they are still Associate Members of Ijesa Felates Club. We are always happy to have you all in our midst." He said
Speaking on behalf of the wives that attended the event, Mrs. Dele George and Mrs Yemisi Ariyibi whose husbands had departed into eternal glory, thanked the association for the support they received during their dark periods and for always carrying wives along in all their activities.
Olori 'Foluke Adelekun and Mrs. Adenike Ogunbeku, the President of Ijesa Felates club Associate Members also expressed their heartfelt gratitude to entire Executive Committee for keeping the flag flying by keeping to the yearly lined up of scheduled events of the Club.
KAKAKIOODUA observed a very elated association of wives interaction at the event.
To make the family party unique and memorable the Club acknowledged the distinguished services and accomplishments of Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, Asiwaju of Ijesaland and Chairman, Ibadan Business School, Prof. Jide Owoeye, Chairman, Board of Governors, Lead City University and Prof. Taiwo Asaolu, Vice Chancellor, University of Ilesa.
For his monumental contributions to the Development of ljesaland as a whole, especially in carrying the banner and flag of ljesaland both locally and in diaspora, the Club bestowed on Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, Asiwaju of Ijesaland the Distinguished Membership Award and Development Champion of ljesaland.
Likewise, Prof. Taiwo Asaolu Vice-Chancellor UniIlesa was recognized with the Award of Outstanding Pioneering Service to University of Ilesa for his pioneering service as the first Vice Chaneellor of the University of Ilesa, taking cognizance of the sound and solid foundation being laid in positioning the young university as a world class tertiary institution.
Also, Prof. Jide Owoeye's achievement in midwifing one of the leading educational institutions in Nigeria, Lead City University, Ibadan, the Club honored him with the Distinguished Membership Award and Outstanding Educational Entrepreneur.
Ijesa Felates Club, under the watch of the Director General, Dr. Biodun Ogunbeku Veterinary and agribusiness management expert is no doubt a reputable social club with in-depth bias for humanitarian services which comprises of young and dynamic professionals and business.

Ijesa Felates Club is dated back to 1966 when young boys, some of them just graduating from secondary schools decided to form a club as "Fellow Mates". The pioneer members were Prince Seyi Lufadeju, late Dr. Akintola Omole and late Niran Kupoluyi, later Oba Engr. Adedoyin Adelekun joined them and the club started growing.
Distinguished guests at the ceremony included traditional rulers, Oba Engr Olufemi Agunsoye Elegboro of Ijebujesa, Oba Dr. Adewale Ojarotade, Alaa of Ilaa-Ijesa and Oba Olusegun Akeju Arojo of Irojo, Dr. Adigun Adewoye, Mr. Iyiola Faniyi and good representation of the management team of the University of Ilesa.
